David, Lisa, Kayla & Isaac

We had a pretty big weekend this week. First off, we had some of Lisa's high school/college friends in town to stay with us for the weekend. Katie and Pat arrived at noon on Friday and joined us for lunch. We ended up having a pretty relaxing weekend hanging out with them. We carved pumpkins one night and went for a 4 mile roller-blade trip. David fared pretty well considering his knee, he wore his new knee brace which probably helped a lot. Our new entertainment center showed up on Saturday so we all spend some time re-arranging the family room and setting things up. David and Pat finished hooking up the stereo while the gals went for a walk. Here's some shots of our weekend and of course we couldn't resist posting pictures of the new furniture.

We were sneaky this long weekend. David and his dad planned a trip to the beach down in NC to surprise his mom. David's family is moving 2 hours north of Charlotte to Cary, NC. His father took a position with John Deere and is moving the family. They finally found a house that they really like and are excited about that. It's been a little tough on his mom with the move and everything else, so we wanted to surprise her. We packed up and headed to the airport Wednesday night and arrived at their apartment at 11:30 at night. David's mom had no clue and was quite surprised to see us. We had a wonderful time at the beach and the weather was much more co-operative than the weather in Michigan. We did some sight-seeing and a lot of relaxing, which was great for everyone. The condo that David's dad got was right on the water. When we walked out onto the balcony you could see the beach (we were on the 1st livable floor, no rooms were at ground level due to flooding possibilities). We took walks on the beach, searched for sea shells, watched people fishing, took a fairy to another sight-seeing area, went to the aquarium on the island and just relaxed. We ate some really good seafood while we were there as well. You can see some pictures here.

David finally sold his monstrosity of a stereo and now as we look at our family room, it looks very bare. So, we went shopping for a new entertainment center and stereo. We found a great stereo and have ordered a new entertainment center, which will be deliverd in 2 weeks or so. Seeing as how we're doing all this work in the family room, we decided that we should finally go out and buy the crown molding for the room as well and put that up. So, that's what we spent our weekend doing. Take a look at the pictures to see us in action.
