Four Months

Wow. Times flies. I feel like that is how I start off each "month" entry, but it is true! She is 1/3 of a year old - amazing. This last month has brought on significant changes.

She is getting stronger and stronger every day. She actually enjoys tummy time, at least for a little while. And she is getting really good head control. She has in the last week or two started lifting her head up when she is laying down (think partial sit-up), and is getting really strong. I realize she's a ways away from crawling, but when she is on her tummy she moves her legs like she is trying to crawl, and does scootch forward a little bit! Now, if she could just learn to lift her torso a bit, we might be in business! This past weekend she rolled over from back to front (yeah!!), and is close to rolling from front to back.

She has also started to get into a little bit of a routine. She is now taking a nap about 1.5 hours after she wakes up. The length of the nap varies greatly, but is often 1.5 hours or more. It allows me to get things done around the house in the mornings, or work out at the YMCA, or take a nap! :)

She had a major sleep regression this past month, but seems to be on the other side of it. She is still waking up more often than we would like (because who wouldn't like an 8 hour chunk of solid sleep), but she is back to waking up just once or twice during the night, and that is acceptable to me for now. We'll see what happens in the future. WIth us traveling the next 2 weeks, I'm not sure how it will all go, but when we come back I think we might start to try to some new tricks to get her to sleep better! Wish us luck! :)

We had her 4 month Doctor's appointment yesterday. She weighed in at 14 pounds, 10.5 oz, which puts her in the 75 percentile. She is 26 1/4 inches long, which puts her in the 95 percentile. And her head circumference is 16 5/8 inches, which puts her in the 75 percentile. For reference, these were her stats at her 2 week appointment: 8 lbs and 10.5 oz, (75 percentile), 22 inches long (90 percentile) and her head circumference was 14 1/2 inches (75 percentile)! It is interesting that she is following the same patterns, and staying right about the same percentiles. She is a long and (for the most-part) lean baby!

A few notes for my reference:
1. Her eyes are still a slate blue color, almost blue-gray!
2. Her left tear duct is still plugged, although it is getting less and less drainage.
3. She has not cried real tears.
4. She is cutting down on her spitting up, but the drooling has increased due to teething!
5. My dad saw her wiggle her ears, so I think she really does have this trait!! We have seen her do it multiple times...
