Sick
Well, Kayla is in the midst of being sick. I can't complain much, though. This is the first time she's been sick like this and she's over a year. I guess I'll consider myself lucky that I haven't had to deal with it yet! She threw up Thursday night, then again Friday morning and then again Friday night..... not pretty. But the cake was this morning. She hardly ate any solid food yesterday, so I decided to nurse her first thing, rather than try breakfast. She nursed for a few minutes, pulled off, looked pitifully at me and then puked all over me (and the couch, the boppy, etc.). I was a bit shocked. Of course I picked her up off my lap and hugged her, assured her everything was going to be alright, etc. Then she vomited 3 or 4 more times, all over my shoulder, other couch cushions, etc. I didn't know what to do! I am pretty sure I saw everything she consumed yesterday... it was a phenomenal amount of puke. Here I am trying to comfort her by holding her against me and now am holding her against her own puke. Lovely! So, we hauled up to the bathroom, stripped and took a bath and then shower together. I gotta say that the smell of puke is pretty horrible. And, well, she also has terrible gas and diarrhea... Hm, that might have been too much detail... sorry!
To top it off, this weekend David is doing a major upgrade at work. He left home at 6:30 this morning and I haven't seen him yet (and it's 10pm). So... I was on my own. Thankfully she wasn't too upset or out of sorts. A bit more needy than normal, and a bit more lethargic (but to put it in perspective, she is typically insanely active.. today she only sometimes was running around), but more or less herself! However, she ate only 5 goldfish and 2 crackers all day. Thank goodness she will still nurse!! Poor girl. I feel so helpless!
