Time Outs
So... this weekend we were playing down in the basement and Kayla climbed on top of a table and behind the futon, where she knows she is not allowed. As she was climbing the table, I was telling her that she needed to come down and if she didn't listen she would sit in time out. She looked at me, and then looked behind the futon; the futon won. So, I picked her up and put her in the corner in a time out. A short time later Kayla sets her baby doll on the table she was climbing on, then says, "No". Then she rushes her baby to the corner and sits the baby down in the corner where she had just been in TO. Five seconds later she picks the baby up and says, "So-sorry” (When we take her out of time out we explain why she was in TO and how she needs to listen. Then we have her say sorry, which she says “so-sorry”!) and then says "Ug" (how Kayla says hug, which we always give a hug after a TO!). David and I were cracking up! How funny that she did that all with her baby! She obviously understands the concept: she does something she's not allowed, she needs to sit in the corner, she says she's sorry and then she gets a hug! We were really impressed!
