ArtPrize
Grand Rapids hosted a 2nd annual ArtPrize, the world's largest art competition. We spent Friday night and Saturday afternoon browsing downtown and it was a lot of fun. Kayla really enjoyed looking at things and occasionally was also allowed to touch or participate in the art too! Her favorite piece was this giant pig (see below). She proclaimed, "This is amazing!" I think her next favorite part of the experience was a lady walking around yelling, "cotton candy" (she was a food vendor trying to sell it). Kayla thought she was saying, "I have candy!" and of course that got Kayla's attention! Since then I have heard her walking around the house chanting, “I have candy” - too funny!
I think my favorite pieces were the large penny made of pennies and the lion family made out of nails. People are so original and so creative and sometimes so bizarre! Here are some pictures - enjoy!
They also had crafts for kids and Kayla got to ride on the carousel at the museum! What a great day!
