Thanksgiving 2010

We hosted Thanksgiving again this year at our house. We love having family come in town for this holiday and the chance to entertain. Sometimes I wish I had more time/energy/resources to decorate my house all cute and spend time making the dinner table look "perfect". But in reality, that's not me! I like to plan, organize, shop, and coordinate the weekend. And I think it went great and everyone had a good time! So, I call it a success!

My parents and grandparents were able to come a day early this year, and made it in town on Tuesday for lunch. Kayla was so excited to see them all and warmed right up to my grandparents, who she only sees once a year! It was fun to see them all interact, and to have my grandparents meet Isaac for the first time.

The Taylor's arrived on Wednesday afternoon, and Kayla was thrilled to see them too! We are so lucky to have 2 sides of the family that have such great love for us and our kids.

Thursday was filled with food and fun. I think Uncle Brian played about 100 games of hide and seek with Kayla, and she could not be happier about it! He even tried to teach her how to hide better (meaning, not saying, "I'm going to hide here, come try to find me!"). As always, a team effort went into preparing the meal - from prep work to cooking to dish washing to setting the table to... watching the Patriots win!! :) Then we all enjoyed the wonderful fruits of our labor!

The day after Thanksgiving we all relaxed. My grandparents took us all out to lunch that day and everyone made a trip to Costco!! We played cards and ate leftovers. David's family (as always) got up early to do Black Friday shopping. David came home with a 4 ft snowman that now resides in our front yard :)

After more cards and crafts and conversations, Kayla and Laura made and decorated sugar cookies!!

My family left after breakfast on Saturday and we spent the day with the Taylor's. Kayla and Isaac went swimming at the pool in their hotel and then we went out to dinner. It was another nice and relaxing day.

As always, it is so special to host this holiday and we are so thankful for our families who travel so far to join us!
